Ok is it above ground or inground? Clean your filter 2-3 times a day and depending on how big your pool is add LIQUID POOL CHLORINE. Keep cleaning the filter and it should clear up also brush the side ofthe pool so the filter will get rid of the green stuff.. contact me if u need more help that is the biz im in..I have been trying to clear my green pool for days w/all the ideas and advice but its still green...Help?
Al-gen treatment(for green water in pools). Walmart or Menard's has it for cheep. Yesterday I had to treat my pool for the same thing. I used the shock treatment and a gallon of Al-gen treatment for a 16x48 round above ground pool.Within an hour it was clear but a little cloudy.GL
Get a pro to do something about it it's usually not that expensive
Or buy a filter system and use the right chemicals
you must drain the pool and then re fill it. that is the only way!!!!!!!!
Circulation
Filtration
Proper water chemistry
Those are the 3 requirements to maintaining a blue, clear pool. Use your test kit to determine Total Alkalinity, pH, and chlorine levels. Adjust accordingly. Run the pump continuously and keep the filter cleaned/backwashed. If it's a sand filter change the sand if it doesn't get better in a couple days. Sand filters are famous for this sudden greening. One of the ';benefits'; of owning one! If all else fails use a flocculant to settle all the gunk to the bottom, then vacuum to waste. Start with chemicals, though, as they are the easiest to check and correct.
Could it be algae the try some algacide, check your PH and Alkaline levels and adjust accordingly.
You could take a sample to your local pool store for testing and they should be able to advise you
you have had an alge bloom go to your local pool store and they can help, do you have a filter the cartridge might need changed or it is not functioning properly see if you have proper flow to filter
You have got to load it with shock, not sure how big your pool is but with mine it took 2 1/2 to 3 times the usual amount of shock, 2 or 3 times a week to kill all the algae. Also get an algicide and use it according to the directions. And run the pump continuously for about 2 days, then let it set for a day. the dead algae cells will settle and form a layer on the bottom of the pool. without disturbing this layer too much, vaccuum out the scum on the bottom. The water will gradually appear clearer and clearer.
Keep up with the maintenance, because it can turn green overnight with high heat, a lot of people going in it, or rain.
Maybe the walls are painted green? Paint it a different color!
