Advice/Help getting an 18 month old to drink ANY type of milk! Tried cow, silk, flavored..?

I have listened to the doctor and only given her a milk cup and no water or juice through out the day, but all she starts to sip it and spits it out. I give her juice/water finally at the end of the day and she will drink 3-4 cups @ once. After 3 days of that the doctor agreed it wasn't working. We have tried skim cows milk, 2% cows milk, whole D cows milk, Silk plain, Silk vanilla, Silk chocolate, flavored milks- chocolate, strawberry, banana. Watering it down 1 part milk, 2 parts water, 1/2 milk %26amp; 1/2 water. She had only been soley breastfed till 13 months, never had a bottle and takes her juice and water out of a sippy cup or regular glass. We are giving her extra dairy, (cottage cheese, string cheese, sour cream, yogurt, etc.) to make up for the lack of milk she isn't drinking. I have ran out of things to try and the doctor said it is ok that she isn't drinking milk, but she will. So I am here 5 months later asking for any advice anyone may have. Thanks in advance!Advice/Help getting an 18 month old to drink ANY type of milk! Tried cow, silk, flavored..?
I had the same problem as you with both my kids my son nothing worked so we did what you do and make up for it in other ways and he is 5 know and he has been drinking milk since 3 then my daughter I got her a special cup with a straw and she thought it was super cool so we called it her milk cup and it worked so mayeb you could try that and see if it works, But she will be okay and she will eventually drink itAdvice/Help getting an 18 month old to drink ANY type of milk! Seems like you've tried it all! My niece was the same way she was breastfed as well and would not drink milk; and to top it off she is allergic to cheese. She also would not drink any juice....solution water and powerade (of all things). Look at it this way at least your daughter is receiving some dairy products. My niece is fine according to her pediatrician.

One more thing...maybe you should try warm milk with a little sugar ( we tried this one also...maybe it will work for you!)
Well she is 18 months now. She is also not breast feeding anymore so it really doesn't matter. A lot of people to include babies do not like milk whether they are lactose intolerant or not. Its not necessary to drink milk any longer. Yeah, yeah, yeah - the Dairy Association would flip, but its a medical fact that it isn't essential. The benefits of milk can be found elsewhere. Don't worry about it.
maybe she is lactose intolerant or try breast feeding her
don't worry about it if she doesn't like milk. just make sure she is getting the appropriate amounts of calcium and vitamin D from other sources.

the human body isn't designed to digest anything besides breast milk, and only for a portion of our lives. the only things milk really offers are calcium and vitamin d which you can get from other sources. milk offers a small amount of protien as well. on the plus side.. milk fat is not very healthy... so make sure your daughter is getting healthy fats.. from things like beans and nuts.

good luck
Have you tried letting her pick a new sippy cup, maybe one with a straw, especially for milk? Or maybe one of those yoghurt drinks to get her used to a milky type drink? Or even make your own by mixing her favourite yoghurt with milk in a cup.
I have to agree with your doctor. Especially since she IS apparently getting plenty of ';concentrated'; milk in the form of cheese and yogurt. Just make sure she gets plenty of water to drink and continue offering her milk occasionally, without trying to force it on her, and I believe she will eventually come to like it well enough to drink it.

B
Please listen to your physician. If you are providing the extra dairy to make up for the lack of milk, she's getting enough of those kinds of nutrients.

Children's tastes change as they get older. I have a friend, who, at the age of 35, doesn't like anything WHITE (I guess that includes most dairy). He's healthy.

I applaud you for having nursed her for so long. That was important. I don't know if you've tasted mother's milk, but it is very sweet. It doesn't taste anything like what comes out of a cow ... or a goat, etc! Keep up the good work.
