Horribly afriad of shots any help or advice?

I'm going to the dentist soon and I have to get a shot because I have a cavity. I'm famous in my family for being afraid of shots and hating them. I freak out every time and it hurts so so bad!

Is there anyway to curb to pain, and to relax or something???Horribly afriad of shots any help or advice?
There are many ways you can help yourself before you go visit the dentist. Explain your fears to the dentist and ask him or her to go slowly with the needle. The slower it is, the less 'pain' you will feel.

Learn to breathe slowly as you take in the anesthesia. When you start to panic, your heart rate goes up and it's harder to control yourself. Learn to relax, concentrate on breathing deeply and imagine yourself somewhere like the beach or high on the mountain. Remember: breathe, breathe, breathe!

Once the site is injected, you'll have nothing to worry about. The area becomes numb and you won't feel much even after the needle is drawn.

On the other extreme, if you're very nervous, you can take medication to calm yourself. The dentist can usually prescribed Adavan which you take 1 hour before your appointment. It usually calms patients and the side effects are usually gone within 3 hours.

Nitrous Oxide, commonly known as Laughing Gas can also be applied if the dentist have this in the office.Horribly afriad of shots any help or advice?
