2 miles is a long distance event, so regardless of wether you compete on the track or in cross country, you should diffinately get yourself on a few, long, slow runs in ur free time. This will develop ur endurance which is the most important thing in distance running. You are clearly very talented if you can get sub 17 minutes at ur age, so just work at it and dont give up. good luck *______*
