:)Could you give me some advice about how to help our environment?
First, the single most important thing that any of us can do to protect our environment is to compost. Really. When we toss organic material (food waste, paper, wood) into our ';landfills';, that material is no longer available as food to the organisms in the biosphere. Here's how it works. There's less available nutrients (food) for micro-organisms so, there's less food available for the fungi that eat them so...there's less fungi for the insects that feed on fungi so...there's less birds that feed on insects and up the food chain it goes all the way to US. And it's more systemic than even that. Without these micro-nutrients that plants need, plant life is diminished...the same plants that make the oxygen that we breathe. Serious stuff. There's a whole lot more to it too but, you see what i mean.

In the U.S we're mummifying millions of tons of organic material into our landfills every day... Organic material that WOULD have been soil, plants and animals had it been returned to nature. The way it stands, landfill engineers ';think'; that these materials will re-enter the biosphere in about a thousand years.

Here's a link to the composter that I use: http://thewindhorseproject.org/page39/pa鈥?/a> 聽聽Beyond that, put in compact fluorescent light bulbs, put low-flow valves or aerators on your sinks and shower, DON'T water your lawn, use public transportation or ride a bike instead of using your car, plan your trips so that you get the most done with the least amount of transportation, use a microwave instead of an oven or stove whenever you can, recycle all metal and plastic, use as little plastic as you can, buy as little processed food as possible, eat as little meat as possible (this is a biggie), help the elderly, teach children how not to waste, and last but most importantly, BE love and teach it whenever you can.

I hope this helps. Yours, Number6 (Scott)Could you give me some advice about how to help our environment?
Well, there are many things you can do and I am truly ecstatic that another fellow being has decided to take action, if even a small one.

some, very simple things you could do around your home are:

1) If you have a light fixture with more than one light bulb, just unscrew one.

2) place a 2-liter soda bottle in the back of your toilet (in with the water) so that it uses just that much less water every time you flush

3) when taking a shower, rinse, then turn off the water while you suds up, then turn it back on to rinse

4) you can hang you clothes out to dry so as not to use a dryer
Live simply so that others can simply live. Eat low on the food chain. Avoid ';things'; and their pretty packaging and petroleum guzzling transportation. Live in a small apartment that is easy to heat and cool, live with others who are likeminded to more efficiently consume. Walk. Bycycle. Use trains.

Note that it would be wrong to never have celebrations, and fiestas, and holiday get-togethers. But make those occasions special by denying yourself the ';everyday'; high lifestyle the rest of the year.

Oh, yeah. Those clothes in the closet that you haven't worn for 18 months. Someone can use those instead of buying new clothing. Sell them or give them away.
ur cool cuz u love nature alot like me. k mabey u can turn of the sink water when u brush ur theet n turn of lights u dont need. also when ur phone is fully charged dont just be lazy n not take out the charger if u do, then ur wasting electricity. also mabey u can plant trees or flowers around ur neirborhood. y dont u star a lil program on helping mother nature, like send out flyers to people to ppl about helping the earth. n star a program, lke evry person plant tress or flowers n they can earn pionts by doing that. also help pick up litters from the streets n hang posters in ur neirborhood about helpng the world n how important it is
Go to www.good.is it is a very good magazine you should subscribe to. Every issue is focused on a different environment issue and is directed to a younger crowed. I have learned so much from this magazine so far and its entertaining to read.
Here's a simple tip that can save your water bill and just water in general. Fill up a decent 16oz water bottle with water, put it in the tank of your toilet. And your toilet will use less water when you flush it. Simple.
Use reusable shopping bags, conserve water and electricity when not needed, recycle everything you can, walk or cycle to/from anywhere you can
Recycle anything that is recyclable....don't waste water. Turn of any electronic device or lights that you aren't using. Pick up any litter that you see on the ground.

Plant a tree (:
Support Nuclear Energy, 0 green house gases.
stop emitting greenhouse gas from your *** by quitting farting. you ruin the world you god damn fart machine *****
Going green is easy, there are so many great resources about the subject. My personal favorite is ';The Green Book'; which has parts of its book online as well at www.readthegreenbook.com.

As I have been striving to ';Go Green'; I realize it is like stepping back in time without getting rid of my modern conveniences. I'm doing many things I learned as a child, like line drying my clothes, sweeping instead of vacuuming, opening the windows in the morning to catch the cool breeze, only buying what I need instead of everything that looks cool, growing some of my own food, and canning what I can't eat now.

To me ';going Green'; is a frame of mind. Do what fits your lifestyle and do the easy things first, it is a process and like dieting if you go to radical to soon, you are more likely to go back to bad habits. I also believe there are good, better, best choices in most things. If you aren't ready to start a home garden, then try finding a farmers market, until you locate one look for produce grown as close to home as possible and go organic when available.

Many people think ';going green'; is expensive, I disagree. Some changes may take an initial investment, but they usually have a short payoff time. Things like weather stripping and insulation cost, but the energy savings will add up quickly. You may need to purchase reusable bags, but most stores give you a 5 or 10 cent credit, so you are paid back within a few months.

Reduce your packaging, if you eat more fresh food you will generally reduce packaging, it's the same thing they tell dieters, shop the perimeter, that is where all the meat, dairy and produce are located. Only buy what you will use, many Americans throw away a lot of unused food. Buy in bulk, that doesn't just mean large packages, but that area with the bins that you buy only what you plan on using.

Replace disposable items with durable items, if you eat outside often and use disposable paper or plastic plates, it is a wise investment to purchase a set of reusable plastic plates. Replace disposable razors, diapers and cleaning products like swiffer. Avoid bottled water, get a home filter like Pur or Brita.

Recycle, www.earth911.org will help you locate the nearest recycle center. I try to only purchase plastics that are #1 or #2, they are more easily recycled. I also buy recycled products when available, that includes paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, tissue, school/office supplies and clothing.

Detox your cleaning, vinegar and baking soda clean almost anything, they can even loosen a hair clog. Seventh Generation and Method are a couple mainstream brands that are very earth friendly.

Just start small and build from there, don't get overwhelmed.
