I cant stand garlic and onion please help with advice!?

lotta people try to discourage me when they say that without onion i cant imagine eating anything.they say onion and garlic are excellent additives and there are no substitutes for them.i wonder is this true?what can i use as substitute to them?i know in Asia budist monks dont consume garlic in their vegan cuisine since it has very aggressive taste.i was pleased when i learnt that.I cant stand garlic and onion please help with advice!?
i do not eat garlic and onions because i follow the Hindu Sattvic diet, and they are considered offensive. i buy plain tomato sauce or puree (with no spices added) and i add italian seasoning (basil, rosemary, oregano), a little crushed red pepper, some sea salt, and a pinch of brown sugar to make spaghetti and pizza sauce. if you make a bunch of it at once and freeze it, it's really convenient.

have you ever tried Hing? it's also known as Asafoetida. you can find it at any Indian grocery stores. be careful, some companies add garlice or onions to it (which is pointless). a little goes a long way, so just use a tiny tiny bit until you get used to it. i'm not a big fan of it, but it does help out on some dishes. i use the Vandevi brand, it comes in a little yellow container.

I use to be that way.

Try yellow onions and fried onions.

Garlic is only good in pizza and spaghetti until you get use to it and then you will like it on a lot of things.

I know what you mean though... onions gives something an off flavor. Changes to undesirable. But you use them for their flavor because it adds an interesting flavor and not because it enhances the flavor.
Ginger! :-) Asia Buddhist Monks and Buddhist Vegetarians don't consume onion, garlic. What do they used to substitue, is ginger.

Use sesame oil to replace garlic oil for fragrant in the dish.

My Asian Veg recipes used garlic and onion but it can be replaced with ginger - http://crystalbyblog.blogspot.com/

cheers
Just as with meat, why would you need to substitute something you don't actually need to eat. There is a whole world of flavours out there... go experience them... Visit the Korean store, Chinese store, Indian store, Iranian store, ... lots and lots of different flavours you never knew existed man.
It is very simple. When ur cooking, First dip the onions(un cut) in

a bowl of water. after 15 min, cut them and use in cooking. When you eat them , their taste will never harm u in any way. Infact it becomes more tasty. Experts recommend it
you can substitute garlic with fresh ginger and onions with shallots, both substitutes have a much gentler taste to them.
Just just if you eat them try to eat a pepermint sweets and ask people who does to do like you
hmmm... leaks? :)

Onions are alot nicer fried you know, so try em like that. :D
if you don't like something, don't eat it!
