a corp. for harrisment. My company has over the course of a year singled out a few employees and it is blatent harrisment, the way they dealt with certain situations made the work environment so stressful for al of us...
What information should be gathered? And advice on a smart way to go about showing them they can not treat people like pawns? This has nothing to do with money and everything to do with principal.Harrisment: I need help, advice in what the smartest way of going about suing?
Don't contact anybody in the company to do something about it, save that for the attorney. HR is there to protect the company not to help the employee. They will start ';shredding';, getting stories right, conduct a token investigation, etc... The longer they are unaware the better. Let them drown in their own ego's. DON'T speak about it to ANYONE at work(the company has spies). As instances happen,or shortly after, like on break, document what happened (who, what, when, where)(with who witnessed). Obtain names and contact info for all coworkers you can,and break it down into category's (victims, witnesses, offenders).
Contact some GOOD attorney with as much info you can give.
Are the people being harassed of a certain class? (race, gender, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, etc) if so its discrimination.
It has to be about money: it talks the loudest!, when it starts costing the company $ it gets the big people involved.
Stress may be a workers comp illness claim. $$
I loath this typ of behavior. (victom)Harrisment: I need help, advice in what the smartest way of going about suing?
first keep a record of all harrassments, on what days, etc..perhaps you could get a tape recorded so small and wear it on your person...in the meantime put applications in on yor lunch hour or if you have off time, go searching and answering places who are hiring, sometimes they will send you an application.
First off have you contacted someone within the company who would have the power to stop it? This needs to be done first, since most courts/agenices will hold you have to at least give them the chance to fix what is wrong. Next if you are not one of the ones being harassed then you have NO standing to bring a complaint/suit.
Now if they refuse to fix the problem, or retailiate in anyway then a suit can be filed. Contact a lawyer, a lot of them handle these types of cases.
one free way of finding out if you have a case and can sue is to call or go on the Internet to HANDLE on the LAW. he is an attorney, has been for many years, has a talk show and web site where you can get quick FREE advise to see if you have a case or not.
Gotta get a good civil rights atty.
